Have you ever danced alone in your underwear? I’m talking music is blasting and you just sing and dance around like a total idiot.
Well, if you’ve never done this I highly recommend it.
Seriously it’s one of my favourite activities. I crank up “Do You Love Me” by The Contours. I jump around my bedroom in my underwear singing, dancing, pretending it’s 1987 and I’m Jennifer Grey in Dirty Dancing.
Still not convinced? Well, here are four reason why I highly recommend dancing in your underwear:
1. Pants are overrated, no one actually likes wearing them
If you say you don’t agree you’re lying and I don’t believe you.
2. You can listen to music that puts you in a good mood
You don’t have to worry about anyone judging you for your taste in music. Listen to all the top hits from 80’s movies, twist and shout like you’re Ferris in the middle of a street parade. Listen to whatever music makes you happy and don’t think twice about what anyone else thinks.
3. You feel free
No one is judging you, your appearance, your dance moves or your singing. It’s such an amazing feeling letting loose like the kids in The Breakfast Club to Karla DeVito’s “We Are Not Alone” (if you don’t believe me I dare you to try it out).
4. You are happy, smiling and your head is filled with positive thoughts.
When you’re dancing alone in your underwear you’re not doing it for anyone but yourself. It’s empowering and so so much fun.
The title of this post can also be taken as a metaphor, I do recommend dancing in your underwear if you haven’t yet, but I also recommend living life this way. Be yourself and don’t be concerned with the judgements other people.
So GO and DANCE in your UNDERWEAR.
Strut your stuff through the house to “You’re the one that I want” like you’re Sandy post “bad girl” transformation in Grease. Blast “What a Feeling” by Irene Cara, and channel your inner Jennifer Beals in Flash Dance. Become Kevin Bacon in 1984 and shake it to Footloose.
If 80’s movies and music aren’t your thing dance to whatever the heck you want! I promise you the moment you find yourself dancing alone in your underwear will be the moment you realize you’re really, truly, no doubt about it happy.
